Job Description: Tanks Direct, a leading installer of petroleum, chemical, and water systems is seeking an electrical controls technician to join our team in Laurel, MD. The electrical controls technician will install, diagnose, and repair various pieces of electrical and mechanical equipment.

Skills/Training: One (1) year certificate from college or tech school preferred. Five (5) years minimum experience in related field or combined preferred. Email resume to [email protected].

Job Duties:

  • Plan layout of wiring and install various types of conduit to include PVC, Ridgid and EMT
  • Install control wiring between various pieces of equipment to include pumps, motors, motorized ball valves, solenoids, PLC’s and other miscellaneous equipment
  • Install communication wiring for MODBUS, RS-232, BACNET and other forms of communication data
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment for repairs and or replacement

Fuel & Water Storage Tank Installation Technician

The Fuel & Water Storage Tank Installation Technician is a multi discipline position that includes the some of following duties:

  • Site work activities to include: excavation, trenching, bedding, backfilling, and shoring
  • Installation & testing of steel threaded and welded piping
  • Installation & testing of fiberglass piping
  • Installation of accessories on storage tanks
  • Testing of storage tanks and containment sumps (pneumatic & hydrostatic)
  • Rigging and setting storage tanks and other equipment such as pump sets, filtration units, and truck unloading stations
  • Installation of electrical conduit, control wiring, and pump controllers

Requirements: The company is seeking both experienced people in our field, as well as, people who demonstrate other skills in line with the duties listed above in this advertisement. Experienced piping installers who are willing to work in multi trade areas are an excellent candidate.

Minimum capabilities and experience include:

  • Mechanical and/or electrical aptitude
  • Ability to learn, remember, and take direction
  • Team player
  • High School Diploma
  • Ability to read, write, and perform general mathematics
  • Clean and professional presentation
  • Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds without straining
  • Ability to pass security background checks to gain access to government facilities
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record
  • Successful drug screening and criminal background check

Preferred capabilities (not required):

  • Prior experience with installation of underground or above ground storage tanks (specifically petroleum and/or water)
  • Maryland Department of Environment (MDE) certified tank technician (the company has an incentive program to get people certified if they are not already)
  • Experience in welding and threading pipe
  • Certifications with any of the following: Simplex, Veeder-Root, Pneumercator, Incon, Red Jacket, FE Petro, Ameron, APT, level gauging, fuel management systems, controls and alarms or other petroleum/water based equipment.
